a plain-language rundown of what this site collects, why, and for how long. no trackers, no analytics, no ad networks, just what's needed to keep the guestbook usable.
when you sign the guestbook, the name, website, and message you enter are shown publicly. alongside that, your ip address is stored privately, it's never shown on the page or sent to your browser, and used only to:
voting on a guestbook entry stores your ip address alongside your vote, so the same ip can't vote twice on one entry (you can change your vote after 24 hours). your browser also remembers your own votes locally so the buttons reflect your choice on return visits.
page loads are counted using your ip address with a cooldown window, so refreshing repeatedly doesn't inflate the number. the running total is public; the underlying ip log is only ever visible to the site admin, who can also remove or block specific ips from it.
guestbook submissions and votes are checked with cloudflare turnstile, and the submitting ip is checked against getipintel.net to flag likely vpns/proxies. both services receive your ip address directly to perform these checks, see their respective privacy policies for how they handle it.
the only cookie this site sets is for the admin login (a session cookie), httpOnly and restricted to /admin use. nothing is set for visitors, and nothing is used for tracking.
